Obstacle Departure Procedures: for VFR and IFR
Just because you see the terrain does not mean you can safely clear it. We're often warned about the dangers of high density altitude, but we need a clear process to determine if we can perform a safe departure. Obstacle departure procedures (ODPs) help define what a "safe departure" means by providing performance benchmarks and routes over terrain. This safety seminar is open to all members and aviation enthusiasts. Whether you're VFR or IFR, ODPs can guide go/no-go decisions and departure plans. Obtaining a Seaplane Rating
Commercial pilot Sal Valdes, recent seaplane rated pilot along with Mary McEnroe, recipient of the Women Making a Splash scholarship will share their experience with flying seaplanes. In this seminar they will share the reasons why they embarked on a seaplane rating. Sal and Mary will provide insight into where they did their training, how to prepare for the seaplane rating itself and what the training involved.
